2nd Fashion Knowledge Forum (FKF) 2006 announced

Sharing an outline of the study, Mr Vishal Goel, Vice President, Ernst & Young Pvt Ltd, said, “ An overview of the key segments of the fashion and lifestyle business i.e. apparel, clothing, home furnishing including textiles, lifestyle accessories, cosmetics, Jewellery, watches, bags and wallets, shoes, etc will define the scope of the study. The study will analyze and present the effects of change in International Trade scenario on fashion business with the dismantling of quotas and signing of FTAs particularly on the developing countries like India and China.

We will study and define the capabilities, issues and concerns of fashion business as a whole and the key segments in India to evaluate weak links of the whole fashion value chain including backward, forward and parallel linkages. The study will aim to provide concrete suggestions and growth strategies for each segment of fashion business including policy framework, support infrastructure, international linkages, R&D and technology, human resources, finance, traditional craft skills among others. We will be releasing the study during FKF 2006.”

The two day event will have key global industry speakers like Ms Robin Kay, President, Fashion Design Council of Canada; Mr Francois Lavergne, International – Project Manager, ESMOD International, France; Mr Ram Sareen, Head Coach, Tukaweb Inc, USA; Dr. Anothai Cholachatpinyo, Department of Textile Science, Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand; Mr Grant Emerson, Programme Coordinator, RMIT University, Australia; Mr S P Oswal, Chairman, CII National Apparel & Textile Committee and Chairman, Vardhman Group; Mr Pravesh Sippy, Film Producer; Prof Jatin Bhatt, Department of Lifestyle & Accessory Design, NIFT, New Delhi; Prof Sangeeta Shroff, Department of Fashion Design, NIFT, Gandhinagar; Mr Karunesh Vohra, CEO, Munch Design Worx; Ms Neeta Lulla, Fashion Designer; Dr Darlie O Koshy, Director, National Institute of Design, to name a few.

Two days of deliberations will be interspersed with fashion show with famous models displaying products of prominent designers.
