From fashion shows to parties, showrooms and promotions, everything was new this Market for the California Market Center's LA Fashion Gift and Home Market held March 23-27, 2007. For the first time in the LA Fashion Market's history, the LA Fashion District banned together for a star-studded grand opening party and the California Market Center hosted various fashion shows throughout the Market.
A wide variety of department and specialty stores shopped the LA Fashion Gift and Home Market such as Barneys, Bleu, BCBG, Bebe, Dillards, Chadwicks, Laundry, Emily Grace, Fred Segal, Envy, H. Lorenzo, Intuition, Kitson, Macy's, Metropark, Nordstrom, Ron Herman and many more.
On March 23, 2007, the grand-opening party held at the California Market Center for the LA Fashion District attracted over 1,000 guests, including leading LA designers such as Adriano Goldschmeid, Sue Wong, Tarina Tarantino, Trina Turk, Robert Rodriguez, Paul Guez (Yanuk Denim, Antik Denim), Walter, Dick Cantrell (Hard Tail), Pamela Protzel (Ella Moss), Yana K, Diane Levin (Poleci), LeeJay Mitz (Iron), Sheri Bodell, Yael Alfalo (YA YA), Glenn Kay (Mandalay), Carilyn Vaile and Allen Schwartz (ABS).
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's wife, Corina Villaraigosa accepted a key to the LA Fashion District on the Mayor's behalf from Rosanne Karmes, designer of the jewelry line Sydney Evan. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced via video message his plans to form a fashion council in an effort to meet the growing needs of the burgeoning LA Fashion District.
