Various Kutch artisans will be showing their handcrafted traditional textiles at the Lakme India Fashion Week (LIFW) which begins February 1, in Mumbai. Seven artisans from Kutch, led by Somaiya Kala Vidya along with two independent award winning master craftsmen, will display their textile creations at the Spring/Summer edition of the fashion show.

The collection, which will have ajrakh prints, bandhani, rabari embroidered saris and ensembles will be shown on the second day of LIFW, which is titled the ’Sustainable Fashion & Indian Textiles Day’. Also on display will be a line from Shrujan, a NGO which works with these Kutch artisans.

"We have been at the forefront of promoting Indian Handlooms and this show puts the spotlight firmly on an important stakeholder, the artisans that create some of the greatest handloom stories,” Jaspreet Chandok, head- fashion, IMG Reliance Ltd said. (AR)
