Every winter since 1976, Sotheby's Geneva has organised an auction of jewellery in the charming snow-covered resort of St. Moritz.

This year, the sumptuous rooms of the Kulm Hotel will be the venue for this traditional sale on Tuesday, February 20, 2007; there will be two sessions, starting at 4.30 pm and 7 pm.

A large selection of jewels created by the likes of Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Chanel, Boucheron, Bulgari and Harry Winston will be accompanied by diamonds, emeralds and other precious stones mounted as rings, necklaces and earclips.

Brett O'Connor, Head of the Geneva Jewellery Department said: “A total of 370 lots will come under the hammer, a delight for lovers and collectors of diamonds and exceptional jewellery.” All the pieces of jewellery to be auctioned will be exhibited to the public at the Kulm Hotel from February 17th to 20th, 2007.

Cartier:
Founded in Paris in 1847 by Louis-François Cartier, this famous house moved into its prestigious store at 13 rue de la Paix in 1898. Since then there has been no end to the innovation and creation of Cartier.

After a love affair with the art deco style culminating in the “white period” of 1928-1930, which brought together platinum, rock crystal and baguette diamonds, Cartier staged a return to nature, seeking inspiration in flora and fauna and creating the famous “Panther” and “Tiger” jewels. One of the most dedicated clients for these pieces was the Duchess of Windsor.
