Soles4Souls Inc, the international charity dedicated to providing free footwear to people in desperate need, announced that it has appointed Dr. Lenord Horwitz, to its Board of Directors.
"We are excited that Dr. Horwitz is joining our Board of Directors," said Wayne Elsey, Founder and Chairman of the Board for Soles4Souls. "He has a legacy of supporting noble causes and we are thrilled to tap into his valuable experience and advice."
"Soles4Souls is a remarkable organization that is making a tangible difference in the lives of many people," said Dr. Horwitz. "They have helped serve underprivileged families here in the Appalachian region of West Virginia, and I am proud to assist their overall mission in this way."
Dr. Horwitz has taught Podiatric Medicine at multiple medical schools, including the University of Wisconsin Medical School in Madison. Throughout his long career, he has also authored dozens of articles for medical journals and books.
Other charities Dr. Horwitz currently supports are Rotary International, Mercer Health Right, and the Bluefield Union Mission. He is married to Dr. Phyllis Beaver, and the couple has ten children and fourteen grandchildren.
"We live in Bluefield, West Virginia -- in the middle of Appalachia -- where the needs are great and the resources are few," said Dr. Horwitz. "Soles4Souls is one more way that we can improve the lives of Americans and their children with a simple but important gesture."
