Bergdorf Goodman toasts sales of $500-mn

At approximately noon on Thursday, July 19th a customer made a purchase at Bergdorf Goodman that, for the first time, pushed sales for a fiscal year over the $500 million mark.

Although bells did not ring on the selling floor to mark the occasion, Jim Gold, President and CEO of Bergdorf Goodman and Burt Tansky, President and CEO of The Neiman Marcus Group toasted the Bergdorf Goodman associates at a celebration in the store on Tuesday evening. The company's fiscal year ends July 28, 2007.

Jim Gold, President and CEO stated, “The store's success can be attributed to aggressive product and services strategies along with an intensive capital investment. We could not have reached this milestone without the loyalty of our clients, the talent of our associates and the commitment and support of our vendor partners.”

Bergdorf Goodman began an extensive renovation program in 1999. Since that time virtually every floor in the store has been redesigned. The store also recently added the BG restaurant on its seventh floor over looking Central Park.

Bergdorf Goodman is part of The Neiman Marcus Group Specialty Retail Stores segment. The Neiman Marcus Group Inc operations include the Specialty Retail Stores segment and the Direct Marketing segment.

In addition to Bergdorf Goodman, the Specialty Retail Stores segment consists of Neiman Marcus stores. The Direct Marketing segment conducts both print catalog and online operations under theNeiman Marcus, Horchow, and Bergdorf Goodman brand names.
