Significant rise in international exhibitors for 101st GDS

Dr Rolf Konrad, Board Spokesman at MEPHISTO SA was delighted by visitor numbers. Andreas Dittert, International Marketing Manager at SWISS MASAI, MBT physiological footwear, added that the GDS focus on special segment highlights was an important move in the right direction. Another special event was the 'Italian Catwalk'.

Attendance by ANCI President Rossano Soldini underlined the importance of the fair for the Italian shoe industry. This was also confirmed by the 'Consorzio Maestri Calzaturieri del Brenta'. Alongside Italy, Brazil and Turkey were also represented with national associations.

For the President of the Brazilian Footwear Association ABICALCADOS, Heitor Klein, GDS was of prime importance as an international hub.

Paulo Wolff, International Marketing Manager at AZALEIA, added, "Visitor numbers - also from Southern African countries - was very good just as was ordering behaviour.”

Edela Land, Managing Director at WERNER, stressed: "Our order volume with new customers from Germany, Dubai and Israel virtually doubled.” For the Turkish association ITKIB the presentation of high-quality labels proved a great success. "We are delighted at the good deals concluded here,” confirmed Ali Murad Kiziltas, President of the Turkish top label INCI.

The next GDS will be held in Düsseldorf from 10 to 12th September 2006 running from the Sunday to the Tuesday.

GDS - The Premier Shoe Event is trendy with more than 3000 of the latest collections for the coming seasons with some 1,500 exhibitors from 50 countries. It is structured with shoes from A to Z, from Kid's Corner to TopStyle, from Comfort to Basic with plenty in between. The event takes place two times the year.
