Woolmark reveals Indian region prize nominees

After a successful re launch of the prize in 2012, The Woolmark Company is pleased to announce the second year of what has quickly become, one of the world’s most coveted awards in fashion.

The International Woolmark Prize now boasts an impressive alumnus of the most important designers from around the globe and partnerships established with some of the most successful leading designers including Narciso Rodriguez, Victoria Beckham, Diane von Furstenberg.

The global response was also measured through a huge social media response with IWP trending on Twitter worldwide with 56 million people reached within 2 hours of the final event being held at London Fashion week on 16 February 2013.

Five regional awards will be held in Asia, Australia, Europe, India (& Middle East) and USA. The winner from each region will receive a $50,000 financial contribution towards their next collection as well as an invitation to participate in the international final to be held in Milan in February 2014.

The Indian region nominees for the 2013/14 International Woolmark Prize are:

The Woolmark Company recognises the support of Fashion Design Council of India, Pakistan Fashion Design Council, Dubai Fashion Week and Starch Foundation of Lebanon as official nominating bodies for above nominations.

Globally the award has been supported by key fashion councils including the Council of Fashion Designers America, British Fashion Council, Chambre Syndicale De La Couture, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid and Premsela Foundation.

The India regional award will be held on 20 June 2013 where the designers are required to present sketches of a Merino wool capsule collection comprising of 6 outfits with one full outfit to be produced. The collections will be judged by a panel of local and international experts soon to be announced.
