Italian clothing and textile maker Ermenegildo Zegna has commissioned Peter Marino Architect, PLLC for the architecture and design of its flagship stores in New York and Milan.
The agreement with the renowned architect, who has designed prestigious store locations for some of the world's top fashion houses, was signed on June 16th 2006 by Ermenegildo Zegna, CEO of the Group.
The new 7,000-square-foot store on Milan's via Montenapoleone and the 10,000-square-foot store on New York's 5th Avenue will be opened in the second half of 2007.
'Peter Marino,' said Ermenegildo Zegna, “is rightly known for having helped redefine, at a global level, the concept of luxury in relation to a brand, by emphasizing all its material and cultural elements and creating a dialogue between interiors and the outside environment."
"By drawing on our Italian family business and sartorial history and heritage, Marino is planning to give our stores a strong personality that will combine commercial function and customer hospitality in a highly original manner. Each Zegna brand will have its own particular collocation, evoking the styles and functions at work in an ideal House of Zegna," he said.
“Having met the Zegna family through Fred Pressman of Barneys New York over 20 years ago, I have long been an admirer of the exceptional quality of both the textiles and the suitings they produce,” said Peter Marino FAIA.
“Now that the company has entered the world of sportswear and leather goods, this is an ideal moment for me to join the team and move forward with a new design concept. I am incredibly excited about this new joint venture,” he said.
