Summer vacation is finally here in Japan. Not only the students but workers are starting their summer vacation as off tomorrow.
Domestic flights are full for the next 2 days and the airport is expected to be packed tomorrow as everyone is leaving for overseas.
The typical image of Japanese tourists is with cameras hanging from their necks and lining up to shop at Louis Vuitton.
But domestically, one is faced with much more “Wa”, which means Japanese, but the character itself means peaceful and harmonious.
Such “Wa” could be seen on the streets with girls and boys wearing their summer Kimonos known as Yukata, and people using their folding fans.
This season is a season that reveals more of these Japanese styles than any other seasons.
This season is not only summer in Japan, but is a traditional season where the spirits of the ancestors come back to this realm.
Fireworks are up in the air every weekend, festivals are held in shrines, and traditional dancing festivals are held in almost every neighborhood.
This is one of the fewest chances that every Japanese feels and dresses Japanese, as no many people wear Kimonos and Yukatas on a daily basis anymore.
So what then is Japanese fashion? People are focusing on Japanese fashion, but when in fact real Japanese fashion is with the traditional outfits and no one really wears these outfits, the so-called Japanese fashion is not what the Japanese call “Wa”.
