SIPIEL, International Footwear and Leather Goods Week, has confirmed its status as one of the three leading events for the trade in both sectors in Europe. Over three days of intensive work between 23rd and 25th March, the professionals who visited the fair were able to gain an in-depth insight into the trends and new features that will shape the latest fashion in leather footwear and accessories during the Autumn-Winter 2007/08 season. Thousands of new ideas will, thus, soon grace the showcases of retail outlets throughout the world.

The nineteenth edition of SIPIEL concluded with some satisfactory results, both with regard to the trade buyers, who observed a generally high standard throughout the exhibition, and among the exhibitors, who were satisfied with the volume of orders placed by their clients.

SIPIEL, organised by IFEMA, welcomed some 18,677 professionals, a figure similar to that of the March 2006 edition. Of this number, 15,797 were Spanish visitors, among which the numbers attending from various Spanish regions increased, including visitors from the Balearic Islands, Castile-Leon, Castile-La Mancha and Madrid.

For its part, the total number of foreign visitors came to 3,099, travelling to the event from all parts of the world. In this respect, we might mention the more than 1,400 professionals who attended the fair from Portugal. This strong level of participation on the part of Portuguese buyers consolidates SIPIEL's role as a grand meeting-point for the industry on the Iberian Peninsula.
