Josh Goot, one of the world's most sought-after Australian designers, is set to launch his new clothing line for Target department stores.
The Josh Goot Target collection is the latest in affordable clothing. It follows the enormous success earlier this year of Stella McCartney – also with Target – and Kate Moss for London's TopShop.
The entire collection is made from Australian Merino wool, which Goot proclaims as the world's highest quality fibre.
“I have never before worked with a fibre that is so versatile, applicable for all seasons, available to be treated in so many ways to give so many astounding finishes,” he said.
Goot has worked with Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) since 2005. He came onto the Australian fashion circuit in 2004 and won the renowned Tiffany and Co. Young Designers of the Year Award in 2005. In September of 2006 he showed at New York Fashion Week (NYFW) to widespread critical acclaim. He was invited back to NYFW in February of 2007.
“The collection is about great basics, a new treatment for wardrobe essentials – a transeasonal collection that is versatile, relevant and stylish,” said Goot.
There are 12 styles in the collection, including tank tops, a cardigan, a tube skirt, leggings, dresses and a trench coat.
The Australian Merino wool used in the range is blended with tactel and elastene, which gives it dense silver resin coating. All the garments have a distinct 'Goot' look.
“To have utilised Australian Merino wool, have the fabric made by Australian knitters, and to have created a range that sells at an affordable price through a large Australian retail chain, I feel is a fantastic accomplishment,” said Goot.
