Inditex has disclosed to its shareholders the Strategic Environmental Plan of the Group for the 2007-2010 period, whose main goal is incorporating the concept of sustainable growth as a strategic value. The plan, which was made public today, addresses the fundamentals of the 2006-2010 Strategic Plan, with a larger ambition and allocation of resources and longer-term prospects.
The Strategic Environmental Plan 2007-2010 covers five large projects:
• Sustainable Store: Optimization of the environmental management of stores, awareness-raising and involvement of the store staff and disclosure of Inditex's environmental commitment to our customers.
• Inditex Pro-Kyoto: Control and reduction of indirect green-house gases emissions, generated by the logistics and distribution activity.
• Energetic Integration with Environmental Criteria: Implantation of renewable energies in all logistics facilities of the Group and application of efficiency and energy saving application.
• Review of the Textile Life Cycle – Ecological Footprint: Development of tools to review the environmental impact of production processes allowing the implementation of efficiency and compensation criteria.
• TERRA Project (End of Cycle): As a coda of the Ecological Footprint cycle, Inditex has set in train an environmental research which would lead to planting the forest stands required to absorb 100% of the emissions stemming from the energy consumption at the corporate headquarters in Arteixo.
