South East Asia's dynamic markets continue to be the centre of attraction as manufacturing and sourcing locations in an ever more globalised shoe industry. One important and ambitious production country being Indonesia.
Global shoes & accessories (14 to 16 September 2007, Düsseldorf) will shed some more light on the Indonesian shoe industry by means of a symposium. The symposium will provide sector-specific country information on the current developments in the Indonesian shoe industry covering the fields of production, legislation and quality management.
Speakers at the event held from 2 pm on Saturday in Hall 16 will include the two chairpersons of the Indonesian Footwear Association Aprisindo, Eddy Widjanarko and Yonki Komaladi, speaking on “Indonesia – A Leading Producing Country. Investment and Cooperation Options”.
Aprisindo sees the participation at “global shoes” in Düsseldorf as a key measure for promoting Indonesian shoe products and as an opportunity to actively make and maintain contacts with potential trading partners on international markets.
Developments in the Indonesian Shoe Industry 2002 to 2006 After declining figures in the past the Indonesian shoe industry has shown signs of recovery again since 2002. Between 2002 and 2006 the volume and value of shoes produced in Indonesia rose by ten percent.
In 2006 the country produced 504 million pairs and the utilization of its production capacity reached 70 percent. For 2007 the Indonesian Footwear Association Aprisindo expects this figure to rise again to 80 percent. The value of shoe exports was up from US$ 1.15 billion to US$ 1.6 billion.
