Roundtable Discussions:
This season children's shoes form a very special focus. The new 'Kids Business Brunch' in Hall 10 allows dialogue between retailers and exhibitors as an information and communication forum. Dr. Gerhard Nickolaus, head of the testing and research institute Prüf- und Forschungsinstitut Pirmasens and expert on harmful substances Dr. Jörg Heimbrecht along with sector representatives will be discussing the controversial theme 'Big Problems for Little Feet – Chrome VI in Children's Shoes. Solutions, Concepts and Ideas'.

The Fashion Talk will be held this time in cooperation with the j'n'c magazines, the focus being on the Young Fashion segment. In the Design Attack Area in Hall 13 sectoral experts along with partners from trade and industry will discuss the significance of bag fashions as a social trend barometer under the heading 'Bag on Stage. Does it always have to be luxury?'.

Award Ceremony:
At GDS/ GLS on 16 September 2007 at CCD. Süd the German Shoe and Leather Goods Award 2007 will be presented by Hendrik Hering, Minister for Economics, Transportation, Agriculture and Viniculture of Rhineland- Palatinate.

Events:
'KAFFEE ORIENTAL Night': The exhibitors' happy hour in the exhibition centre's Glass Pavilion located between Halls 10 and 16 will pick up on the current theme at Design Attack inviting guests to chill out with hookah pipes and oriental snacks and enjoy oriental sounds.

In parallel with GDS the NRW Forum Kultur und Wirtschaft will be hosting the exhibition 'Carmen's shoes in Düsseldorf'. 25 Spanish shoe designers, including real greats like Paco Gil, Pedro García, Sinela, Jocomomola, Castaner, Alima and Salvador Sapena, will be presenting flamboyant oneoff designs here from 14 to 18 September. The Spanish designers and labels drew their inspiration from Bizet's opera of the same name and, each in their own way, interpret 'Carmen of today'.

Free shuttle buses will ferry visitors between GDS and the NRW-Forum during the fair. At lunchtime the exhibition will hold a free Carmen lunch for GDS trade visitors. Admission to the exhibition is free.

This exceptional design event is organised by the Spanish institute for foreign trade ICEX and the Spanish Bureau for Trade in Düsseldorf in collaboration with the central association of Spanish shoe manufacturers FICE and GDS.
