Valentino Fashion Group S.p.A. confirms Mr. Valentino Garavani's decision to step down in January 2008, after the two upcoming shows of pret-a-porter in October and haute couture in January.

Mr. Valentino founded the fashion house in Rome more than 45 years ago, and built it into one of the best known, most admired and most prestigious brands in the world. Along the way, he became an icon, not only one of the most respected fashion creators of our time, but also a pioneer in the fashion business.

Mr. Valentino played a pivotal role in the evolution of the fashion industry, and was one of the figures at the forefront of the Made In Italy wave that has swept the world.

He will always remain a key figure in the history of fashion, synonymous with elegance and style, a guiding star, who helped redefine the role and image of the designer in the 20th century and the early part of this century.

Valentino Fashion Group, in close consultation with Mr. Valentino and Mr. Giancarlo Giammetti, the honorary chairman of Valentino S.p.A, has thus reorganized the creative team, and announces that Alessandra Facchinetti will be creative director of all womenswear collections.

Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, who already have been successfully assisting Mr.Valentino in designing the accessory line for several years, will continue in their role, as creative directors.

To complete the design team, Valentino Fashion Group expresses its intention to reinforce the menswear collection team to further develop this product line.
