They wished to have meeting with the trade people at Peshawar, Lahore and Karachi and also with the authorities to discuss possibilities of opening avenues of direct trade in gems and jewellery between India and Pakistan.
PGJDC is the culmination of efforts put in by Ministry of Industries, Production and Special Initiative, Government of Pakistan and the stakeholders of the Gems and Jewellery sector in Pakistan.
Ministry of Industries, Production and Special Initiative took the initiative to gather the stakeholders and formed a Strategic Working Group (SWOG) which was assigned to formulate the strategy to develop the gems and jewellery sector in Pakistan. The strategy developed by SWOG is being implemented by the company.
PGJDC is a public-private partnership to develop the value chain of gems and jewellery sector from mine to market. The company aim to enhance exports through facilitation, technology up-gradation, skills development and marketing/branding.
