It was the most eagerly awaited show of future talent in the fashion world. Levi's Gen Next presentation at Lakme Fashion Week proved that the business of fashion is in safe hands as seven creative minds from the top fashion institutes in the country and around the world presented their style statements for the coming season.
DHIRENDRA SINGH: Presenting for the first time with his label Five Strands Dhirendra Singh's beautiful eco friendly collection of bamboo, pineapple banana, nettle fabrics with natural techniques was a dream to watch.
From Jodhpuris with side cowls, pre-stitched dhoti pants, elasticized minis, togas, shorts - all in white - the collection revealed the innovative touches of the designer with chattai for cuffs for blouses.
ROOPA PREMMARAJU AND KANICK RAJ: Haldi the label from Roopa and Kanick merged the beauty of multi prints in an Indo-west fusion of dresses which had the carefree touch of the wandering gypsies.
Using chiffon, georgette and silks the dresses were lean in form but multiple in colours and designs. Layered nd feminine, the garments had a distinct bohemian feel.
KALLOL DATTA: From a blue dress with rear cowls and prints of the female sketches; Kallol Datta moved to a Lurex smock, a black tiered mini with empire line, a velvet side pouched mini and ended with a gold beaded shift. A collection that was as avant grade as the designers creativity.
RIMZIM DADU: Rimzim Dadu's My Village label presented a line of garments which were a study in fabric texturing at its best, as an ecru trapeze top, a pin tucked and piped blouse with giant buttons, a khaki and beige pleated, smocked, bubble and a dramatic orange shaded halter diagonal draped balloon dress with printed coat had the most earth colours and impeccable finish.
