The Indian Navy's most famous aircraft carrier — INS Vikrant (now called IMS) will soon play a new role — it will be a ramp for a fashion show.

Two renowned Italian designers — Gianfranco Ferri and Trussardi will showcase their latest collection on the ship on November 21.

The Navy has granted permission for the flight deck area of the ship to be used for the show. This will be the ship's first commercial assignment.

Confirming this, secretary general of The Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dr Andrea Bonardi told, 'This fashion show will be part of Festa Italiana, they annual lifestyle and cultural festival in India to showcase the finest Made in Italy brands.

Every year, they bring the best Italian designers to India to showcase their latest collection.

Equally unique are they venues.

Last year, designers Valentino and Zegna showcased their collection on the steps of The Asiatic Society building in Mumbai.

This year, they have chosen another fine monument IMS Vikrant for the show.'

Dr Bonardi added: 'It will be an exclusive and explosive show.

Ferri has received the L'Occhio d'Oro — the Italian fashion Oscar several times while Trussardi is one of the world's most renowned brands.

The security arrangements will be elaborate.

The Indian Navy is looking after that.

Only selected invitees, 600 of them, from the world of glamour, politics, Bollywood, media and corporate will be allowed to attend the show.
