The 18th Dinard Festival, which took place from the 6th to 8th May, presented a wealth of designers who came predominantly from Japan, Korea and France. France has been well represented in the three categories: lingerie, womenswear and menswear.

Tristan Lahoz, 23 years old, a final-year student at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD) in Paris, ended up as winner of the Grand Prix Créateur Homme (prize for menswear design), co-sponsored by Texworld, which will welcome Tristan Lahoz's collection next September. The designer told us: “I can't wait to attend Texworld, to enter the professional arena and to get feedback about my designs from visitors to the show”.

Demonstrating great confidence in his work, Tristan Lahoz is a talent whom Texworld will support and follow closely.

His collection, christened Epidaure (Epidaurus), in tune with the acoustics in the renowned Greek theatre, takes its inspiration from the world of music. He reproduces his idea with powerful details: appliqués of very fine slivers of wood on a shirt front evoke a succession of notes, or else gloves which when laid flat are in the form of a guitar. The colour fawn is very much in evidence and reminds one of the wood veneers on old harpsichords or that of guitars.

An immaculate and contemporary collection, with pure lines in natural materials: cool wool, cotton batiste and denim. But leather, which he has a liking for, is also to be found, just as a detail or in full. Neutral, even cold colours (in the white, grey and beige lines) given warmth with a palette of fawn or brightened with celadon green.

“Les Garçons”, members of the Dinard Festival jury Grégory Lamaud and Louis Gérin, alias Les Garçons, artistic directors at Texworld, were nominated as members of the jury at the Dinard Festival, which was held from the 6th to 8th May.

Apart from their functions as artistic directors at Texworld, they are also designers for the label “Les Garçons”, dedicated to men's wardrobes. Their experience in designing and textile exhibitions led the organisers of the Dinard Festival to choose them as members of the jury, which was chaired this year by the couturier Franck Sorbier.

“We are touched by this invitation and delighted to contribute to the spawning of new talent thanks to this festival” the duo said. Grégory Lamaud and Louis Gérin have succeeded in giving Texworld a new direction, so that it has been transformed from a simple buying platform to a show that inspires. Les Garçons have successfully endorsed artistic proposals for the last three seasons as well as the trend forum since last February's show. Creative, iconoclastic and spontaneous is how to describe “Les Garçons”!

The art of Ken Sortais: from Texworld to the Montrouge Festival Ken Sortais, the painter, seen at Texworld on the occasion of his performance on the Urban Denim space in February, has been awarded the Prix du Conseil général des Hauts-de-Seine at the 56th Montrouge Festival (Paris), which takes place from the 5th May to 11th June 2011. Established in 1955, this festival is one of the oldest exhibitions of contemporary art in France and its aim is to discover and unveil the talent of tomorrow.
