The consumption of acrylic fibre in the Asia-Pacific was estimated at 955.29 KT in 2020, rising to 970.97 KT in 2021, then slightly decreasing to 968.56 KT in 2022. However, it could reduce further to 963.31 KT in 2023, with the downward trend expected to persist until 2028, according to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro.
In Europe, the consumption of acrylic fibre was 341.30 KT in 2020, which marginally increased to 344.10 KT in 2021. Nonetheless, it fell to 338.01 KT in 2022 and is forecast to decline further to 332.71 KT in 2023 and 301.09 KT by 2028. The region could experience an average annual decrease of 3.09 per cent from 2020 to 2028.
Acrylic consumption in north America is projected to decrease to 34.99 KT by 2028, with an annual reduction of 2.70 per cent. It was recorded at 39.04 KT in 2020 and rose to 40.25 KT in 2021 but has since declined in subsequent years. Meanwhile, in South America, consumption is expected to fall to 44.37 KT in 2028 from 60 KT in 2020, equating to an annual decrease of 7.26 per cent.
The rest of the world may witness an annual decrease of 3.41 per cent, with consumption anticipated to fall from 160 KT in 2020 to 139.26 KT in 2028. The consumption was slightly higher at 162 KT in 2021 but was estimated to decrease to 159.46 KT in 2022 and 155.79 KT in 2023, as per TeXPro.
