Footwear exports from Vietnam are expected to touch US $2.9 billion mark this year, according to the Vietnam Leather and Footwear Association (LEFASO), a 13.6 percent compared to the last year.

Whereas European Union (EU) market amounted to over 65 percent of Vietnam's footwear exports, the US market registered constant growth while importing sport shoes, leather shoes and slippers from the country.

Units, mainly 100 percent FDI, joint-venture and some large companies from Vietnam exported majority of the products.

Vietnamese footwear products also witnessed steady growth rates in export turnover in comparison to Japan and other Asian markets.
