Scene7's Dynamic Imaging Solution reaps reach dividends for Sierra Trading

US based leading outdoor apparel retailer and cataloger Sierra Trading Post is utilizing Scene7's On-Demand hosted rich media platform to add dynamic zoom, re-sizing, and color swatching across its e-commerce website. Scene7's Dynamic Imaging Solution has contributed to a 25% increase in revenues year over year, and allowed it to achieve four times more production output while avoiding over 75% labor costs.

Founded in 1986 and headquartered in Cheyenne, WY, Sierra Trading Post specializes in casual and outdoor clothing, footwear, home furnishings, and accessories. The company purchases name-brand overstocks and closeouts and sells to its customers at substantial discounts. Sierra Trading Post offers its products through three main selling channels: three retail stores, seven mail order catalog titles, and its online store, SierraTradingPost.com.

“We needed an easy way to allow customers to see our products in detail as we carry fine woolens like tweeds, heathers, and a lot of leather goods,” said Mark Richardson, Creative Services Director for Sierra Trading Post.

“We also wanted to be able to show our products in every available color, and the amount of items and colors we carry made it impractical to photograph them all. We perform all of our photography in-house, so it was very important for us to be able to control our production and publishing process. Scene7 has provided us with a comprehensive solution to prepare and dynamically deliver all imagery for our website, including all sizes and resolutions – enabling us to give our customers the enhanced visual information needed to help them make a purchase decision.”
