UK Q1 production output rises 1.1%, first increase since early 2024

UK production output for the first quarter (Q1) this year was estimated to have increased by 1.1 per cent quarter on quarter (QoQ), according to the Office of National Statistics (ONS). This was the first rise in the quarterly series since Q1 2024.

The manufacturing sector—up by 0.8 per cent QoQ—was the main contributor to the quarterly rise in Q1 2025. The increase in manufacturing output during Q1 2025 saw rises in 10 of its 13 sub-sectors.

Monthly production output was estimated to have decreased by 0.7 per cent in March this year following a rise in February 2025 (up by 1.7 per cent) and a fall in January 2025 (down by 0.4 per cent).
