According to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro, the export of T-shirts to Europe amounted to $609.598 million, which was 20.57 per cent of the total. It was the second most important garment in Bangladesh's export basket for Europe. Similarly, the shipment of jerseys was valued at $422.568 million (14.26 per cent), shirts at $335.475 million (11.32 per cent), and innerwear at $141.842 million (4.79 per cent) during the same period.
Last year, apparel shipments from Bangladesh to the partner continent were valued at $19.707 billion. Of this, the exports of trousers and shorts were noted at $5.897 billion. The share of trousers and shorts exports was 29.92 per cent of the total shipment. The export of T-shirts was $3.964 billion (20.11 per cent), jerseys $3.398 billion (17.25 per cent), shirts $2.076 billion (10.54 per cent), and innerwear $913.007 million (4.63 per cent).
As per TexPro, Europe was the largest market for apparel exports from Bangladesh, with a share of more than 40 per cent. The Asian country’s apparel exports totalled $6.965 billion in January-April 2024. Among the top three regions, the share of North America was 30.15 per cent and Asia-Pacific 17.26 per cent of the total apparel shipment from Bangladesh in January-April 2024.
Last year, Bangladesh exported apparel to the entire world amounting to $36.312 billion. The shipment to its top region, Europe, was $20.628 billion, which was 56.81 per cent of the total. Bangladesh’s shipment to North America was $8.914 billion (24.55 per cent) and Asia-Pacific $4.618 billion (12.72 per cent).
