Vietnam topped the list as the supplier for imports of trousers and shorts to the United States in the first two months of the current year. The country's imports of these garments totalled $3,089.990 million in January-February 2024. Imports from the top supplier, Vietnam, were valued at $700.334 million during the same period, accounting for 22.66 per cent of the total imports. Trousers and shorts were the most imported garment products for the US.

According to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro, US imports of trousers and shorts from Bangladesh amounted to $553.711 million in the first two months of the current year, making up 17.92 per cent of the total imports by the US. Among the top five suppliers, imports from China were valued at $427.954 million (13.85 per cent), Indonesia $186.451 million (6.03 per cent), and Cambodia $181.876 million (5.89 per cent).

Vietnam was also the top supplier of trousers and shorts for the US in 2023. The US' total imports of these garments amounted to $18.198 billion. This represented a 26.98 per cent decrease from the $24.925 billion traded in 2022. Imports from Vietnam totalled $3.645 billion last year, accounting for 20.03 per cent of the total imports, according to TexPro. However, this marked a 27.44 per cent decrease from the $5.023 billion imported from Vietnam in 2022.

Imports of trousers and shorts from Bangladesh were valued at $3.158 billion, representing 17.36 per cent of the total. Similarly, imports from China amounted to $2.329 billion (12.80 per cent), Mexico $1.140 billion (6.27 per cent), and Indonesia $1.076 billion (5.91 per cent).
