Government has conveyed to Lok Sabha that it will shutdown four jute mills in bad conditions belonging to National Jute Manufacturers Corporation (NJMC) but renovate two others owing to heavy losses of Rs4,600 crores.

Textiles Minister Shankersinh Vaghela informed that Kinnison and Khardah mills will be revived. Proposals have been forwarded to Bureau for Rehabilitation of Public Sector Enterprises for this purpose.

Government has also expressed concerns on Pakistan's non implementation of South Asian Free Trade Area (Safta) as Islamabad's July 1, 2006 notification being restricted to tariff concessions for India.
