In an effort to test the connection between a new, quality bed pillow and a good night's sleep the more than 300 townspeople of Pillow, Pa. let go of one of their most personal possessions as part of the Great American Sleep Better Project.

Residents of this central Pennsylvania bedroom community hadn't given much thought to their pillows before, despite the town's name.

But during the Sleep Better Project, they experienced first hand the connection between a better pillow, better sleep and a better quality of life.

The following results were reported:
Of the more than 300 participants in the Great American Sleep Better Project -
- 76% slept better on their new pillow
- 69% woke up feeling more rested
- 72% had less neck/back pain
- 54% had fewer headaches
- 66% felt more rested/energized
- 86% will continue using their new pillow

The challenge came from Carpenter Co, maker of pillows with the Sleep Better seal. The Great American Sleep Better Project is part of Carpenter Co.'s educational campaign to teach Americans the importance of using the right pillow for getting a better night's sleep. It's also the first time an entire town has gotten new pillows.

"We are very happy with these results," said Dan Schecter, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Carpenter Co.

"The individuals who go on using their Sleep Better pillows will see even more improved results in week two and beyond as theirbodies continue to adjust to their new pillow.
