PX prices fall in Europe & US markets last week

The prices of paraxylene (PX), the basic raw material for polyester, fell in Europe and the US markets last week ending October 3, 2014.

In Europe, average PX price was US$ 1160/ton in the last week, showing a decrease of $10/ton or 0.85 percent compared to the earlier week ending September 26, 2014. The drop in price was mainly due to weak demand for the product in the region.

In the US market too, the average price of PX declined by $5/ton or 0.42 percent to $1180/ton in the last week, due to mute buying sentiments.
