Weak demand and bearish buying trends pulled down Asian ethylene prices in October, when compared with September and dipped between 7 and 8%.

Abundant product supply and weak demand due to national holidays in China, also contributed to the downtrend in Asian ethylene prices.

In the F E Asian market, ethylene prices fell by US$ 90/ton in October versus September and were assessed in the range of US$ 1405/ton to US$ 1410/ton.

In S E Asian also, October ethylene trends dropped by US$ 115/ton from September and were offered in the range of US$ 1390/ton to US$ 1395/ton.

In October, the US market also witnessed ethylene prices descending from September, due to poor energy market prices and planned cracker restart activity in the region.

US ethylene was offered in the range of 64.50 cents/pound to 65.00 cents/pound in October, down 7 cents/pound from the previous month.
