The prices of monoethylene glycol (MEG), used as a raw material in the polyester value chain, declined in the Chinese and Southeast Asian markets on December 9, 2014.

In China, MEG prices declined by US$ 15/ton and were quoted at US$ 805/ton on Tuesday, showing  a decrease of 1.83 per cent compared to Monday’s prices.

In Southeast Asia, prices declined by US$ 15/ton and were quoted at US$ 810/ton on Tuesday, registering a fall of 1.82 per cent over Monday’s prices.

The decline in prices was due to weak upstream and downstream product prices in the region.
