Weak upstream last week tanks Asian PTA prices

Weak upstream energy prices in the region led to PTA prices tanking in Asia in the last week ending Dec 19.

In FE Asia, average prices slipped by US$ 50/ton or 7.30 per cent and were assessed at US$ 635/ton last week, as compared to its previous week ending Dec 12.

In SE Asia, average PTA prices too reduced by US$ 55/ton and were quoted at US$ 655/ton last week, down 7.75 per cent as against its previous week.

In the Indian market also, average prices decreased by US$ 50/ton or 7.04 per cent from its previous week and were spotted at US$ 660/ton last week.

In China, average prices declined by US$ 45/ton and were offered at US$ 645/ton last week as compared to its previous week, a decline of 6.52 per cent.
