Weak downstream leads to Asian ethylene dropping last week

Weak downstream product prices coupled with mute buying sentiments in the region led to Asian ethylene prices dropping in the last week ending Dec 26.

In Korea, average prices declined by US$ 40/ton or 4.26 per cent and were assessed at 900/ton last week, as compared to its previous week.

In Japan, average ethylene prices also slipped by US$ 40/ton and were offered at US$ 900/ton last week, down 4.26 per cent as against its previous week.

In SE Asia, average ethylene prices too went down by US$ 30/ton and were quoted at US$ 1000/ton in the last week, as compared to its previous week, a decrease of 2.91 per cent.

In India also, average prices fell by US$ 35/ton or 3.38 per cent from its previous week and were spotted at US$ 1000/ton last week.
