Asian benzene prices dropped on Wednesday (Dec 31) but stayed stable on Thursday (Jan 1).

Prices declined on Dec 31, mainly due to lower upstream energy prices and fall in upstream product prices in the region. Poor downstream demand supported the price decline.

In Korea, benzene prices were assessed at US$ 665/ton on Wednesday, lower by US$ 20/ton as compared to prices on Tuesday ) Dec 30.

In Japan, prices were quoted at US$ 670/ton on Dec 31, also down by US$ 20/ton as against those on Dec 30.

In India, prices declined similarly and were offered at US$ 675/ton on Wednesday.

However, benzene prices remained unchanged across all Asian markets on Dec 1.
