European benzene prices fell on Wednesday (Dec 31) while they remained flat on Thursday (Jan 1).

Prices declined mainly due to lower upstream energy prices and sluggish downstream demand in the region coupled with decline in downstream product prices.

The price decline was supported by lower benzene prices in Asia.

European benzene prices were assessed at US$ 690/ton on Wednesday, lower by US$ 5/ton as compared to prices on Tuesday.

However, prices were stable on Thursday at US$ 690/ton on Jan 1, but were lower by US$ 20/ton as against prices on Monday (Dec 29).
