Asian benzene prices slipped on Monday (Jan 12) mainly from fall in upstream product prices and sluggish downstream demand in the region.

Decline in upstream energy prices also supported the price fall.

In Korea, prices were assessed at US$ 580/ton on Monday, lower by US$ 5/ton as compared to prices at end of last week.

In Japan too, benzene prices were quoted at US$ 585/ton on Jan 12, down by US$ 5/ton vis-à-vis prices seen towards end of last week.

In India also, prices showed similar trend and were assessed at US$ 590/ton on Monday.
