Asian PTA slips last week due to weak upstream trends

PTA prices slipped in Asia in the last week ending Jan 16, due to weak upstream energy prices coupled with weak downstream product prices in the region.

In FE Asia, average prices went down by US$ 30/ton or 5.04 per cent and were assessed at US$ 565/ton last week, as compared to its previous week.

In SE Asia too, average prices fell by US$ 25/ton and were quoted at US$ 590/ton last week, down 4.07 per cent as against its previous week.

In the Indian market, average prices also declined by US$ 15/ton and were spotted at US$ 600/ton last week from its previous week, a decrease of 2.44 per cent.

In China also, average prices dipped by US$ 30/ton or 5.04 per cent from its previous week and were offered at US$ 565/ton last week.
