Chinese textile retail sales grow steadily in 2013

The retail sales of textiles and clothing in China grew at a steady pace in 2013 to total 1.141 trillion yuan, registering an increase of 11.6 percent year-on-year, according to the latest data released by the National Bureau of Statistics.
 
However, the growth rate in textile and garment retail sales was lower than the 13.1 percent year-on-year rise observed in total retail sales of social consumer goods, valued at 23.438 trillion yuan in 2013.
 
In December 2013, garment and textile retail sales in China touched 132.3 billion yuan, showing a rise of 11.1 percent year-on-year.
 
In December too, the textiles and clothing retail sales growth rate was lower than the 13.6 percent year-on-year growth seen in total retail sales of social consumer goods during the month.
