Numerous helpless and uneducated women have adopted embroidery work as a profession to earn their livelihood in Kandahar to support their families.
Many shop-businesses would shatter if these women-folk do not render embroidered items to them for resale.
The embroidery work is of different types and all of them are attractive and have great market.
Some handicrafts are even sent to India, America, and Holland that are mostly appreciated.
Head of the Culture and Tourism Department stated that such decorative needlework was prestigious trait of the women of Kandahar province who do needlework on pillows, caps, tablecloth, and other things.
But new model caps with beautiful embroidery work are being imported from Pakistan, which were earlier made in Kandahar.
The caps now imported are made by computerized machines in Sindh province of Pakistan and these machines are not available in Afghanistan.
