The MFA Forum takes pleasure in inviting you to a 2-day high level conference to be held on May 16th and 17th, 2006 in Maseru, Lesotho.
The conference titled Destination Lesotho: On the Road to Responsible Competitiveness will be attended by buyers, producers, government representatives and other stakeholders from national, regional and international levels.
The aim of the conference is to discuss and develop a results orientated strategy that contributes to the sustainability of the industry through the effective and responsible management of trade and human development goals.
By using the framework developed by the Forum, it is hoped that countries can develop a strategy of responsible competition which would address the rights of workers in the restructuring of the global garment industry as well as addressing issues of trade.
The MFA Forum published three research reports and 'A Collaborative Framework for Guiding Post-MFA Actions' in March 2005, which aims to promote responses from buyers, manufacturers, exporting governments, importing governments, non-governmental organisations, trade unions, and international institutions to ease the transition to post-MFA and build strategies for a responsible and competitive global garment industry.
The Forum's endeavour has been to play the role of a facilitator and catalyst to bring together all the key players who can help influence the growth and sustainability of the industry through home owned and home grown processes.
