Top local designers to present at Arts & Culture Fashion Seminar

SA Fashion Week is going to organize a The SAFW Arts and Culture Fashion Seminar during 28 July to 31 July 2005.

SA Fashion Week believes in nurturing the energy and talent of SA's young entrepreneurs. At this year's Arts & Culture Fashion Seminar top local designers will share their experiences, and impart valuable knowledge gained along the way.

Craig Native
Biography:
Craig Native's fresh urban streetwear hit the streets of South Africa in 2000. Native is an anti-glam brand promoting realness rather than superficiality. His indigenous influence has focused on the underdog, the forgotten and the misunderstood people of South Africa. In this way, he drives a cultural expression through fashion.

Native's success has seen his collections showcased at the last four SA Fashion weeks. He has also been awarded “2000 Most Promising Designer in SA Award”, “2002 Best Men's Wear Designer in SA Award”, and the “2002 Most Stylish Designer in SA Award”. The Native brand launched internationally in 2002 and to date has successfully shown in exhibitions in Berlin, Amsterdam, and Copenhagen. Native designs can be found internationally in select stores of London, Stockholm and Japan.

André Martin (Life)
Biography:
Andre Martin's career started in the clothing business three years ago as a co-ordinator, working alongside other designers. Within six months and with no formal training, he was given the opportunity to design a range for a local fashion company. After six months of the range's completion and using minimal start-up capital, he launched his own label – LIFE. To date LIFE is stocked by all the YDE stores, that countrywide sell the best in cutting edge retail clothing for young people. Andre has also launched a Life women's wear range which will be exhibited at Fashion Week this year.
