Monthly UK real gross domestic product (GDP) is estimated to have fallen by 0.1 per cent in May this year, following an unrevised fall of 0.3 per cent in April and a growth of 0.4 per cent in March, according to Office of National Statistics (ONS).

Real GDP is estimated to have grown by 0.5 per cent quarter on quarter (QoQ) in the three months to May 2025, largely driven by growth in the services sector.

Production output fell by 0.9 per cent in May, following an unrevised fall of 0.6 per cent in April, but grew by 0.2 per cent QoQ in the three months to May 2025. The fall was mainly driven by manufacturing output decreasing by 1 per cent.

Construction output fell by 0.6 per cent in May, following a growth of 0.8 per cent in April, but grew by 1.2 per cent QoQ in the three months to May 2025, an ONS release said.
