An acrylonitrile (ACN) plant of Germany based Ineos undergoing maintenance, may restart by the end of this week.

Speaking to fibre2fashion, an Ineos official said, “The ACN plant located in Cologne with a capacity of 220,000 tons per annum had gone off-stream for a turnaround on March 1. It is expected to restart anytime this week.”

He added, “Ineos operates another ACN plant in Cologne with a capacity of 100,000 tons per annum. It is also scheduled to undergo a turnaround in June and may stay shutdown for a month.”

Revealing current ACN market trends, he said, “ACN trends were seen rising in the beginning of this month. However, owing to weak demand and market fundamentals, ACN market is now maintaining a stable trend.

“Very few deals are being signed currently. Buyers are asking for US $3100 per ton, whereas sellers have adopted the stance of wait and watch, as they are expecting prices to fall.”
