Mitsubishi Rayon is likely to temporarily shut is acrylonitrile (ACN) plant at its Otake production centre in Hiroshima on September 10, 2013.

It is likely to re-start in end-October, according to a company official.

The likely closure of the plant is due to an inventory adjustment, as a result of weak demand in Japan.

The plant has an annual production capacity of 90,000 tons of ACN.

Mitsubishi Rayon is a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Group.

In Southeast and Far East Asian countries, ACN prices are currently hovering around US$ 1,850/ton.
