Bayer CropScience recently launched their revolutionary e3 sustainable cotton program at the Kingpins New York denim sourcing show to great interest from companies around the world.

For the first time, American-grown cotton can be certified as sustainably produced to meet the demands of environmentally-conscious companies and their customers. Best of all for brands and mills, supply is not a problem as e3 certified cotton is already produced in commercial quantities.

e3 is a transparent, environmentally responsible, economically viable, and socially equitable program that provides stringent, third-party verified guidelines for farmers in the United States who grow Certified FiberMax or authentic Stoneville cotton.

For mills and brands, there are three key benefits of the e3 program:
1) e3 is socially equitable which addresses issues of; Working/living conditions of growers and laborers; the needs of the surrounding rural farm community and consumer health and safety.
2) e3 is economically viable to meet the individual economic needs of farmers, farm families, farm workers and customers, and to help make farms financially competitive enterprises that are consistently profitable year over year
3) e3 is an environmentally responsible program encouraging reduced use of water, land and energy while maintaining productivity
