“In the course of the past year the injured have received treatment at the Trauma Centre in Dhaka and elsewhere. That treatment is on-going for some of the more seriously injured.

“A final part of the preparation for the creation of the Relief Fund involves all of the injured having an updated assessment of their degree of disability and on-going care needs at the Trauma Centre.

“Most of the funds for all of this work was provided by Inditex, the Spanish retail group.

“With the completion of the fieldwork, the details will be computed to establish the funds needed to launch the Project Spectrum Voluntary Relief Scheme, details of which have already been provided to all buyers and other stakeholders concerned in early February.

“This Relief Scheme is a national and international effort involving Spectrum Sweater Industries Ltd, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association, the Bangladesh National Council of Textile, Garment and Leather Workers' Federations, NGOs, the Bangladesh Government, international clothing buyers led by Inditex of Spain, and the International Textile, Garment and Leather Workers' Federation to provide fair and equitable relief to the families of those who died and to workers injured when the Spectrum factory collapsed.

“The Scheme will provide for lump-sum payments in the case of dead and injured victims, lost wages and a regular payment or pension to the dependents of the dead and tothose whose injuries render them incapable of full-time work in the future.
