Big Bazaar's Sabse Sasta Din (cheapest day of the year) offer on Republic Day this year was a historic day for Kishor Biyani, Managing Director, Pantaloon Retail (India) Limited.
He created retail history in country by selling goods worth Rs50 crore in a three day nationwide sales campaign.
Biyani now wants Pantaloon Retail (India) to mop up deals worth a staggering Rs100 crore in a two day vendor fair to be organized in Ahmedabad.
For this purpose, Pantaloon has signed memoranda of understanding (MoU) with leading vendors like Amul, Rasna, Ankur Salts, Bharat Vijay Mills including others.
Almost 3,000 vendor partners from states of Gujarat and Rajasthan responded. Over 500 will be selected after initial screening to participate in Saathi fair to be held in city on Friday and Saturday.
After holding vendor fair for the first time in Ahmedabad it is further scheduled to be held in Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata in coming weeks, said Biyani, Managing Director of the company.
Saathi will be helpful for mid-sized vendors as they will be able to sell directly to consumers through Pantaloon, removing middlemen for a better price realisation.
Pantaloon is pioneering modern retailing revolution just as Amul had done for white revolution in the country, said BM Vyas, Managing Director of GCMMF.
This alliance will simplify the supply chain, with Amul supplying directly to Food Bazaar.
