Euro-zone industrial new orders index rises 2.7% in Feb 2006

Eurostat announces the euro-zone industrial new orders index increased by 2.7 percent in February 2006 compared to January 2006. The index decreased by 5.7 percent in January and increased by 5.5 percent in December.
EU25 new orders rose by 0.5 percent in February 2006, after a fall of 3.5 percent in January and a rise of 5.9 percent in December. Excluding ships, railway and aerospace equipment industrial new orders grew by 0.3 percent in February 2006 in the euro-zone and fell by 1.1 percent in he EU25.
In February 2006 compared to February 2005, industrial new orders increased by 13.3 percent in the euro-zone and by 10.4 percent in the EU25.
Total industry excluding ships, railway and aerospace equipment grew by 10.4 percent in the eurozone and by 7.6 percent in the EU25.
Monthly changes
In February 2006 compared to January 2006, electrical and electronic equipment increased by 7.0 percent in the eurozone and 5.5 percent in the EU25.
Transport equipment gained 4.7 percent in the euro-zone but fell by 3.7 percent in the EU25.
Basic metals and fabricated metal products gained 1.1 percent in the euro-zone but declined by 0.7 percent in the EU25.
Chemicals and chemical products grew by 0.2 percent in the euro-zone, but fell by 0.9 percent in the EU25. Machinery and equipment decreased by 0.1 percent in the euro-zone and by 0.8 percent in the EU25.
Manufacturing of textiles and textile products fellby 3.2 percent and 2.8 percent respectively.
