The All-India Consumer Price Index for Urban Non-Manual Employees CPI(UNME) on base 1984-85=100, for the month of March, 2006 has been released by the Central Statistical Organization (CSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation together with the indices for 59 selected urban centres in India.
The All-India CPI (UNME) for March, 2006 is 463 , which is 2 point more than the index for the previous month i.e. February, 2006. At the group level, the index for March, 2006 when compared to last month i.e. February, 2006, has increased by 0.46 percent in respect “Food , Beverages and Tobacco” group and followed by 0.24 percent in respect of “Clothing, Bedding & Foot-wear” group.
When compared with the corresponding All-India index for March, 2005, the index for the month of March, 2006 has shown a rise of 5.0 percent over the year.
Statement-1 gives the CPI (UNME) for All-India and 59 selected urban centres in the country for March, 2006; together with the indices for the preceding five months.
