CFA crowned winners of 'adidas+Challenge', off to Berlin for finals

The adidas + Challenge came to an eventful end at the Rabindro Sarovar Stadium Calcutta on the 28th of May. While the result wasn't one that the spectators were rooting for, everyone appreciated the fine show put up by both teams.
In a nail biting final, it finally took penalties for the Indian Champions to emerge. The lads from Chandigarh Football Academy (CFA) won but the Kachrapara High School Kolkata were worthy opponents! The Chandigarh Team will now fly to Berlin to represent India at the global finals of adidas + CHALLENGE from 1st July to 4th July.
The adidas + CHALLENGE which has traveled to seven cities in India, including Hyderabad, Bangalore, Goa, Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh and Kolkata, has been well received by football enthusiasts all over the country.
Over 700 teams took part in the event, which saw over 6000 participants in all.
The seven finalists who competed at the National Finals in Calcutta included City Club from Hyderabad, 5 Star for Bangalore, M.S.S.A. Rangers from Mumbai, Vasco Sports Club from Goa, Chandigarh Football Academy from Chandigarh, Vikaspuri D-Block from Delhi and Kachrapara High School Kolkata.
The first of its kind initiative, the adidas +CHALLENGE was partnered by Coke and invited young Indian football enthusiasts to celebrate the spirit of the sport of football in the run-up to the 2006 World Cup.
The other co-sponsors for the event included ESPN STAR Sports and Phoney Tunes and TV partner Hungama.
